HMN painter b.1979
It’s about the desert.
My ground is in the sands – in paint. Living in the region since 2010.
My earlier work moved across multiple subjects and media.
I didn’t craft a brand. I lived art in the land.
My practice is rooted in the deserts of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, where I work en plein air and in the studio. I paint the desert as it is lived – austere, hazy, unpolished. My work, shaped by glare, exposure, strain, and solitude, moves toward reduced complexity as a consequence of proximity to the land.
Some pieces remain as they were painted in the open air; others continue in the studio and are concept-driven, built until they hold the same condition.
