Living in the Arabian Peninsula since 2010, HMN’s practice relies largely on direct field observation and sustained contact with land. Her work attends to overlooked landscapes as they are found, where small shifts in light, distance, and proportion carry weight. Most paintings begin outside, where the direct encounter with the scene shapes the pictorial restraint of the work before it continues in the studio.
